Cash flow you can trust
Steady, provable earnings, not a growth story that only works in a projection. We want to see what the business has actually done, over years, not what it might do.
Criteria
We buy durable, cash-flowing businesses that are usually a little boring. Below is what that means in detail, and what we turn down.
Steady, provable earnings, not a growth story that only works in a projection. We want to see what the business has actually done, over years, not what it might do.
Something people need in good years and bad. If demand depends on a trend holding up, it's not what we're looking for.
The best conversations are with people who built something real and want it to keep going, not just get sold.
We're based in Denver and most of what we look at is close to home. We'll travel for the right business, but home turf gets first look.
Small enough that the big funds ignore it, big enough to matter. Usually one business, sometimes a few locations.
If it needs to be fixed before it can be bought, it's probably not for us. Turning a struggling business around takes a skill set, and a stomach for risk, that we don't have.
When a category gets popular with buyers, prices stop reflecting what the business actually earns, so we slow down. We want businesses that will still make sense in ten years, after the trend has moved on.
If the relationships, the reputation, and the know-how live entirely in one person, there may not be much left to buy once that person leaves.
If we can't describe how the business makes money that simply, we pass. Plenty of good businesses get passed over this way, because the limit is ours.
You'll deal directly with the person who writes the check and makes the decision. We ask for real financials because we intend to close, and we'll tell you exactly why we need each piece.
Confidentiality matters to us as much as it does to you. We won't tell your landlord, your employees, or your competitors that you've reached out. And because we invest our own capital in every deal, we don't walk away lightly once we've said yes.
If that sounds like the kind of buyer you'd want, tell us about your business.
