About
The operator behind Buchanan Assets.
Buchanan Assets is a private holding company in Denver, founded on a simple idea: buy good businesses and keep them.

An accountant who became an engineer.
Alex started his career as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers, learning to trust the reconciliation over the narrative and to tell the difference between how a business describes itself and how it actually behaves. He has since passed Level I of the CFA Program.
He then spent a decade as a software engineer, most recently as a Staff Engineer at Twilio, building products with real users and short, honest feedback loops. That work convinced him that a system is only as good as the parts that keep working when something breaks.
Buchanan Assets is where those two disciplines meet. The audit work left him skeptical about the numbers, and the engineering work left him focused on what lasts. He points both at owning businesses for the long term. If you're weighing a sale, our FAQ answers the questions we hear most.
